Queenstown, a Remarkable place for year round fun.

Queenstown is legendary amongst holidaymakers, adventure-seekers, snow bunnies and those who love the great outdoors. Known as the Adventure Capital of the World, Queenstown is a charming resort city set in a stunning location which offers a multitude of adventure activities. Here you will find the original bungy jump in Kawerau, the exhilarating Shotover Jet, several top-class skifields, a luge track and opportunities for river rafting, mountain climbing, hiking, quad biking, hang gliding, skydiving and much more. The city does not exclude the more sedate amongst us- the scenery can be enjoyed with a peaceful gondola ride, or a trip on the vintage TSS Earnslaw steamship.

The city itself is perched on the edge of Lake Wakatipu at the foot of the mountains. Focused on tourism, the downtown area is charming and buzzes with activity all year round. Bars, restaurants and cafes abound, and there is a lively nightlife especially towards the middle of the winter and summer seasons. On a clear day, a walk along the Lake Esplanade is simply beautiful.

The best way to get an amazing view over the city, lake and mountains is to go up on the Skyline gondola to the viewing platform, restaurant and luge trail at the top. Venturing out of town a little, you will find the aforementioned adventure activities, skifields and some other charming small  towns. These include Cromwell, the other lakeside town of Wanaka, and Arrowtown, a historic gold mining town.

Although it is not a big city, Queenstown has plenty to offer a road tripper. Specifically, access to some of New Zealand’s most amazing scenery- with plenty of it being right in the city! The far south of the country is spectacular and a campervan holiday is the perfect way to see it all.
